Dear Friends;

Every time I hear the National Anthem of the United States, I stand a little taller, put my hand over my heart and pay homage to those great Americans who have sacrificed so much to make this country what it is today.

The World War II generation, our parents, pulled up their bootstraps and rescued this nation from the Great Depression.

They put on their uniforms and marched off to save the world from the greatest terrorist ever known, Adolf Hitler.

Then our parents returned, put their shoulders to the plow, and rebuilt the world.

My mother, Dorothy Ketelson was part of this generation.

She walked 2 miles thru the snow in upstate New York to work in a munitions factory.

She grew a victory garden, volunteered for the U.S.O., organized scrap drives, gave 20% of her pay for Victory Bonds and still managed to go to church on Sunday and pray for the safe return of her 3 brothers, who were in the marines fighting in the South Pacific.

My mother like your mother instilled in me the values that I cherish to this day: truth, dignity, honor, charity, hope, kindness, love and belief in God.

My father instilled in me strength, loyalty, obedience, and endurance in the face of adversity.

Our parents fought hard so that we could have the things they didnt, so we could live in a country free of oppression, and so that we could obtain the life they could only dream and hope for.

As keepers of the torch of liberty, as faithful servants of God; they have done their best and who among us can say that their best was not good enough.

It Is Our Generations Turn To Step Up.

Some of us might say we have met the challenge.

After all, we put a man on the moon, stopped Communist aggression, cured diseases, and advanced technology. Yes, God has truly blessed us with many talents and abilities.

But, who can rest easy in the knowledge that polio, tuberculosis, and leprosy is still claiming tens of thousands of lives each year thru lack of accessible drugs.

That children are still starving to death, that genocide, slavery and the death rate from socially unacceptable diseases are being ignored worldwide, and closer to home, who can forget September 11^th, the rise in use of illegal drugs, gang violence, and the acceptance of a lower public morality.

Isnt it time we of faith, we that believe in the ideals that our parents fought so hard for, we the silent majority gather our strength and stand up and let our voice be heard?

It Is Good To Believe In God.

There is no shame in humbling yourself before God and following his word.

I for one am honored to be a temple attending member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

God will always have a place in my home and in my heart.

It Is Good To Have Real Heroes.

My hero is a marine by the name of Dustin Birch.

As a young missionary in my church Dustin sat at my dinner table, and shared his hopes and dreams for a better world.

In 2005, he died at the hands of terrorists in Iraq.

He made the ultimate sacrifice for you, and me, and his family to have a better country and world to live in.

I will never forget Dustin or his sacrifice.

It Is Good To Fight For High Ideals.

We believe in liberty, freedom, equality, and justice for all.

Dustin was always faithful to these ideals.

I wrote the Contract with Americas Heroes and formed The Heroes Alliance Foundation to offer our support to the brave men and women who put their lives in harms way for these American ideals.

They Are True American Heroes!

I believe we Americans should preserve our national strength while working to extend peace, freedom, and human rights throughout the world.

I believe we must retain the family values that make us strong, while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

I believe mothers and fathers have been given a sacred responsibility from God to nurture and raise our children with the values and ideals necessary to create a better world.

We Must Reach For Higher Goals.

We must share the blessings that god has given us with the rest of the world. We must turn away from being motivated by fear, hate, and greed to being inspired by faith, hope, and love.

Now is the time for us to arise as leaders of our generation to be examples for our children, to reaffirm those family values that our parents sacrificed so much to give to us.

It is imperative that we realize what our parents understood, that God has given us the ability to create, the human and physical conditions of life that surround us.

We have a responsibility to expand the peace, love, and happiness that we experience in our houses of worship into our homes, our community, and the world.

A better world will only be obtained through the legacy we leave to our children, and childrens children.

Tell them not of your regrets for actions not taken, but tell them of your heroic deeds of kindness and the values you stood for.

So it is with faith and hope in my heart that I reach out my hand to you in partnership.

Let us join forces to educate our children about the true values that make life worth living.

Our deeds can and will stand taller than any building, shine brighter than any sun, and give testimony as to the content of our souls.

Together, you and I can bring about those changes that will fulfill not just the dreams our parents had for us but the hopes we have for our children and the world.

I know if you meet me half way together we can pass on to our children the same great country, the Shining City on the hill that our parents gave to us and a world worthy of Gods faith in us.
